The Beginners Guide DSCSA Compliance Software

DSCSA Supply Chain

DSCSA software ideas are as plentiful as interpretations about what the DSCSA actually requires pharmacies to do. Our team has worked with pharmacies for decades. We understand you have a lot to do already and sifting through software options is low on the priority list.

We’ve looked at a lot of the software options out there and they mostly fall into two categories. The first set promises the world with a mix of buzzwords (AI, machine learning, Augmented Reality, etc…) and exaggeration of how much effort might be required to actually set up and use their systems. These big promises seem to usually accompany a lack of actual experience in the pharmacy from a tech company that is eager to sell the new big idea.
The second set of software seems to totally misunderstand what exactly the DSCSA requires. They offer something that looks like an online spreadsheet and seem to think pharmacies will be able to have someone sit at a desk and enter pedigree information all day long. They promise a DIY experience with a mix of customized freeware and reused programming. These systems ignore the need to connect data securely through EDI transmissions with the manufacturers and wholesalers. The cost of setting up a secure AS2 station for transmissions for a single pharmacy alone can be more than we would charge in a year.

Worst of all, every one of these systems hides its pricing behind a “Call us for pricing” promise that we all know means it’s going to cost more than it should. It also means you won’t be paying rates based on what you are actually getting, but based on what they think they can get out of you. Since when did pharmacy become used car sales?

At MedTrax, we have worked in pharmacies for decades. Some of us were pharmacy techs. All of us worked in the pharmacy for years. We know what it’s like to be in the pharmacy. That was why we decided to start Outdate Rx in 2014. We used our knowledge of pharmacy to build a better return system. When our customers started asking about DSCSA compliance, we knew we could help.
We’ve used our knowledge, connections and resources to build the system we would have wanted when we were working in the pharmacy. We help you put your data to use with customizable reports. We made recalls easy. We changed the way expired meds get handled. Everything is designed to save you time so you save money and improve your customer’s experience.

While we wish we could give the software away to everyone, there are a lot of expenses that go into it. Data hosting on secure servers with enough backups and redundancies you can be sure your data will be there all day, every day, forever. We run the most secure AS2 connections possible so your data transmissions between the wholesalers, manufacturers and your pharmacy are as secure as you would expect them to be. It’s a scalable system so whether you send one message or 100 billion, you can expect all data to transmit without issues or failures. We have a customer service team that is here to help. Whether that is onboarding or resetting your password, our team makes MedTrax easy to use.
Even with all those expenses, we offer straightforward pricing, right on the home page. Choose what you need and don’t pay for what you don’t. That’s the way we would want things to be so that’s the way we did it.

Our goal is simple, make a system that helps your pharmacy achieve DSCSA compliance and brings as much value to you as possible. We’re proud of what we have built and we hope you agree that it is the best DSCSA compliance software around.
